Cheers to the Governator!

I was reading Newsweek today, and to my surprise Arnold Swarzenegger is taking a stand for energy conservation!! Here is the article, I am so happy that he has branched out from his "Manly Man Hummer Driving Cigar Smoking Girl Groping" attitude that is so characteristic. He even makes a few jabs at Dubya, which is fine by me of course. This great nation has yet to ratify the Kyoto Treaty, with the president saying basically "China and India aren't going to, why should I???" C'mon Mr. Prez, the presidency isn't like whining for later bedtimes from Barbara. Get over it, and get with the times. And if China and India need incentive to sign into this thing, we can make it happen without any police actions or simularly embarrassing situations. Stop buying thier shit, and they will change their tune. Look at the label, if its says "Made in China" or "Made in Indonesia", don't buy it. This would probably be a reasonable way to deal with the inhuman conditions the workers are dealing with in the first place. Money makes the world go 'round, specifically, the money of consumers.

new stuff, really

Having just seen a lecture on the extinction rates, I am concerned about the direction in which we are headed. More than ever, this is convincing me that a level of self-sufficiency and lessening of consumerism is needed. Of course, I am as guilty as anyone when it comes to buying stuff and driving so much. But small steps would help...
